This is what the first 5 MB hard drive looked like 50 years ago. It was impossible to lift it without a forklift:
The disc was released by IBM in September 1956. The hardware was intended for the first SUPER computer with a 305 RAMAC hard drive.

The system weighed about a ton - it turns out to be 0.2 grams per byte (or 5 kilobytes per kilogram) and consisted of 50 disks with a diameter of 24 inches (610 mm). Each disk, respectively, 100 kilobytes. The frequency of rotation of the drum - 1200 revolutions per minute. Random access time - 600 milliseconds.
