GoDaddy, SOPA and all-all-all. Part 2

GoDaddy Boycott

The Internet is replete with references to SOPA, GoDaddy, and all this hype around the Stop Online Privacy Act (irony, take a closer look!)

Who does not know, GoDaddy first expressed support for SOPA , then gave up her words , and then in an interview with TechCrunch, it turned out that she had not refused at all.

Naturally, the company's image has deteriorated significantly in the eyes of many users, and they massively began to “divert” thousands of GoDaddy domains. And if at first GoDaddy just called users, now they have switched to more hooligan methods.

According to the official Namecheap blog , GoDaddy impedes the process of transferring domains without giving full information to competitors whois. At the same time, as the domain owners say, they themselves can get access to full information about their domains.
')
With such frankly frivolous actions, GoDaddy violates the rules of ICANN.

At the same time, the same Namecheap picked up the idea that was expressed on Reddit, and organized the so-called. MoveYourDomain Day , an auction of unprecedented generosity, not only offering to transfer the GoDaddy domain to them for a symbolic $ 6.99, but also promising to give one dollar from each transfer to Electronic Frontier Foundation , a nonprofit organization for protecting the rights of Internet users.

At the time of publication of the article, I did not see any shares from other registrars. They say Name.com launched some kind of action on this issue, but nowhere on the site I mention this failed. I will be glad to any confirmed information in the comments.

UPD: Habrayuzer mveselovski prompted: " Name.com offers a 40% discount when transferring GoDaddy demenes, details can be found in their tweeter @namedotcom "

UPD 2: I was prompted by another interesting article. GoDaddy, it turns out, not only participated in the drafting of the bill, but are inviolable against SOPA . Gorgeous.
