The website of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
premier.gov.ru and the website of the Government of the Russian Federation
government.ru have switched to a free license Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported (
CC BY ), under which all materials on these resources are now distributed. The CC BY license allows you to freely copy, distribute and transfer content to other persons, create derivative works and use the information for commercial purposes, requiring in return only the instructions of the author and the source.
Government.ru and premier.gov.ru were the first sites of the federal level authorities, which switched to the dissemination of information under the Creative Commons license, transferring the content to the free category. Prior to this information from the sites could not be fully used, for example, on Wikipedia. Unlike the United States, in Russia the content produced by the authorities does not go into the public domain, therefore, it is especially important for Russia to use CC licenses in order to make state information free and accessible to citizens.
