Late last month, rumors began to circulate on the Web that Google was not going to renew the contract with Mozilla (the essence of the contract was the inclusion of the search service of the Good Corporation in the browser functionality). Then the rumors were refuted, since both companies did manage to agree, and the cooperation agreement
was signed . The new agreement, as far as can be judged, is very beneficial for Mozilla. It is worth recalling that it is Google that is the main sponsor of Mozilla; financial investments by the search giant make up about 80% of the total Mozilla budget. Now Google will pay $ 300 million to its partner a year, and this will continue for three years (perhaps, after three years the contract will be extended).
The official comments of the partners about the amount of the transaction does not say anything, but, as always, there were “sources close to the management”, and these sources voiced the amount. According to data provided by these same anonymous sources of information, the initial agreement dealt with a much smaller amount, but then Google learned of Microsoft’s intention to offer a larger amount, and the Good Corporation had to change the arrangement with Mozilla to increase the amount.

Earlier, Google provided Mozilla about 100 million dollars a year, so the next three years will be very, very pleasant for the developers of the Mozilla browser. Probably, additional funds will be spent on improving the quality of browser development, plus on accelerating the release of new versions. So Firefox may become a more dangerous competitor for Chrome than it is now.
It is worth noting that the ninth version of Firefox, released the other day turned out to be somewhat problematic. Literally a day after the appearance of number nine, an update was released that corrects some errors,
and what kind of errors these are, Mozilla representatives still prefer not to say (they have already said that there is a reference in the comments to the list of bug fixes).
