Sony has created the world's most powerful sugar battery
In Sony laboratories , a sample of a battery has been created that generates electricity by splitting sugar. The 39 × 39 × 39 mm battery has a power of 50 mW, which is a new world record for elements of this size. Four cubes is enough to power the Walkman player (see video under the cat), and a cup of Coca-Cola or sweet juice will suffice for a whole day.
The sugar battery uses glucose as fuel. As a result of hydrolysis, free hydrogen ions are formed, which pass through the membrane, interact with oxygen from the air at the cathode and are oxidized to water.
Sony engineers showed a detailed bio-battery design at the 234th annual meeting of the American Chemical Society, which takes place this week in Boston. ')
