At a government meeting, the Minister of Information Technology and Communications of the Russian Federation, Leonid Reiman, said that last year the total number of Internet users in Russia
reached 25 million people . In other words, every fifth Russian uses the services of the World Wide Web.
In addition, Reiman said that now
there are more than 16 computers per 100 inhabitants of the country, that is, more than a quarter of Russian families have a computer at home. Last year, this figure was 12 computers.
The minister hopes that by 2010 there will be about 30 computers per 100 people, and the number of web users will increase from 17 to 39.
