A new authentication mechanism in Windows 8: "input by picture"
It seems that the developers of the new Windows 8 operating system do not sit still, but actually implement new ideas, not limited only to visual differences from competitors, such as, for example, the Metro interface.
The traditional user authentication mechanism using the login and password in Windows 8 is proposed to be supplemented with an alternative one, the purpose of which is to simplify work with the system when there are no special security requirements, which is typical for home conditions. The essence of the new method will be as follows:
The user includes an alternate login mode - “by picture”.
Next, it loads into the system some image known to it, which will be used for the authentication process.
The system asks you to perform on the picture several specific characteristic gestures - “tapov”, “circles”, etc. and remembers them.
In the future, these gestures are proposed to repeat - “enter the password again” - and the next time the user logs in, the user, seeing the picture he knows, will have to perform the gestures he already knows from the picture. Naturally, if successful, he gets access to his account.
