Nvidia has opened the source code for the CUDA compiler
Nvidia has opened the source code for a new CUDA compiler based on LLVM. Sorts are not distributed right and left, but are accessible only to "qualified researchers and developers." To receive them, you need to register, fill in the form and indicate for which projects you intend to use the compiler. So it is not yet clear under which license the compiler is published and in general whether it is a free license. In a press release, the company hints at more open access to sources in the future.
With the help of the compiler and the new CUDA Toolkit 4.1, it will be possible to adapt the GPGPU platform for other architectures and processors, including AMD GPU and x86 CPU, as well as create heterogeneous supercomputer systems.
