The new startup RumorApps is brought to the court of Habr. The word startup is used correctly, because the project is planned to develop to a profitable business. Of course with time, not all at once, but still.
I am a fan of browsing the Internet for the presence of something new and interesting. They recently wrote about sites for inspiration. After the post base daily-visited sites increased. Most of all I like to look at new sites, services, startups, applications and games. But due to the narrow profile of the sites, they always had to visit them in large quantities.

You go first to see which new games are released on the iPhone, then to another site to watch which new services are released, etc. And I got the idea to make a site where everything would be together. I went to the site and found out everything at once, without leaving it. The same day I quit my job, came home and sat down to write code ...
So nothing was done and it was not, because there was no knowledge in PHP, there was no designer and in general, it was boring for one to do it. But all these 2 years the site has been hatched as an idea and understanding that it is needed, it has become more and more. And one morning the idea struck again so hard that again I quit, came home and began to do everything.
Every time you write code, are you trying to invent or use something new? I'm trying to. Before that, I studied Code Igniter, but I wanted something new. I took WordPress as a basis because I knew nothing about it. Of course there were a lot of sleepless nights and mats, but things were progressing. And then came the day "cut the red ribbon."
It was a principle, and it happened. RumorApps is a web directory / site where you can learn about all the new games and applications for iOS, Android and FaceBook. Also here you will find new services and startups. For fans of the Chrome browser there is a directory of applications and extensions. Well, by itself - the news about the Internet and technology. All this magnificence is published in English. Although if there are a lot of offers, you can make the Russian version of the site.
The design was chosen easy and convenient for reading. During development, I came across the results of research on fonts. It turns out the most readable font is Verdana. Also, for the first time, font sizes were used not in pixels, but in “em” (I don’t know how to say in Russian). I do not want to breed hollivar, but “em”, combined with "%" is just perfect for the site, because everything just scales perfectly.
Initially, it was planned that the audience of the site would enter and read, read, read. Those. the audience is consumers. However, following the trend of large sites, it was decided to make a convenient "add-on" of new sites and applications.
Now each developer will be able to publish his website / game / application / extension in the directory. Of course, all applications will be moderated, because all kinds of people are ... well, you understand. As a result, the site has become designed for developers, and only secondary to readers.
Everything is simple. As with any popular blog, the RumorApps system was followed by a directory and post system. A plugin was developed to add new sites and applications, PayPal is integrated (WM will not accept the site, since I live in England, and here it’s just crazy exchange rates).
All sites in the catalog have a direct dofollow link, which is very important, because everyone wants more particles and PR. Comments are implemented via the disqus plugin. The decision was made after targeting other popular sites.
For those who like to stand out, there was a development block for advertising sites. Publication in such a unit costs $ 40, which is just right for the Western world. Monetizing the site is of course AdSense, Mighty Deals and the block Featured Apps. I want to add a block from BuyAndSellAds, they have very colorful and beautiful advertisements, like on Smashing Magazine.
The site is connected to FeedBurner and everything that is published is sent to Twitter and FaceBook. Good promotion for very young sites, one publication in 3 places at once. A caching plugin was also installed to quickly load pages.
Because The site will contain direct links to apps and games for iOS and Android, I think to implement QR codes so that it is more favorable to use. More so far nothing has been invented. If you have any ideas - write in the comments, I will be very happy.
Everything was done alone, I will not kick :) If you have your own designs that somehow relate to the subject of the site - publish it, and you will be pleased and the site will somehow develop. Attendance charts show is still meaningless, because it is only a start, but I think there will be something to share in a year.
