A new release of the distribution kit has been released for testing and evaluating
Tahoe-Lafs Renat's Suse-12.1 open decentralized file system.
Live builds are available for CD, USB, VDI (virtual machine image). By downloading this distribution and configuring the network using the yast2 configurator, you can deploy your own secure data storage using storage both inside the virtual machine and in the cloud (by installing the necessary components and programs).
Articles about Tahoe were published earlier on Habrahabr: We
save our data safely: p2p file system with encryption in the cloud and
Tahoe-LAFS: P2P file system, which allows using the cloud without trusting it .
')
A distinctive feature of this distribution is that it was built in SuseStudio under OpenSuse 12.1, and the publication in
SuseGallery allows us to clone, copy, download, and modify this assembly to fit any of our needs.
In Tahoe-Lafs, files are broken into pieces and uploaded to nodes already encrypted. Configuring the redundancy of the loaded data allows you to build fault-tolerant storage of your data. There is a built-in ftp, sftp server for data access. It is also possible to integrate into the web, organize synchronization of upload folders, etc.
