"PostgreSQL Version 8.3 Performance Improvements"
Bruce Momjian, report
PostgreSQL is a freely distributed object-relational database management system, the most advanced open source database in the world and a real alternative to commercial databases. Each new version of PostgreSQL is a significant step forward thanks to the new unique features and optimization of existing ones. Particular attention is paid to the development of the system performance.
')
This report will describe the nontrivial steps to optimize performance in PostgreSQL 8.3. Bruce Momjian will describe the details of the implementation of these changes and tell you how and how much PostgreSQL users can benefit from these improvements. In addition, a list of other innovations expected in version 8.3 will be presented.
"PostgreSQL Performance Tuning"
Bruce Momjian training
This seminar is designed for PostgreSQL users who want to gain in-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning. All aspects of performance will be covered:
* server settings
* caching
* management of operating system resources
* optimizer work,
* problem requests
* issues of storage efficiency,
* some details of the choice of iron.
Students will learn how to properly manage shared memory, learn to understand the data provided by the optimizer, and how to properly configure the storage for optimal performance.
About the author of the training: Bruce Momjian is a co-founder and current member of the PostgreSQL Global Development Group, his main responsibilities include coordinating the development process, processing and accepting patches, supporting the TODO list, conducting trainings. By communicating with a key PostgreSQL developer, seminar participants will be able to strengthen and significantly expand their knowledge and skills in optimizing system performance.
