The company Fusion-io has released a new solid-state drive with a capacity of 10 TB

Yes, the development of the company Fusion-io is very interesting, and it is this company for the most part beats records in terms of increasing the available amount of solid-state drives. Now Fusion-io engineers were able to create another model of such a drive with a capacity of 10 TB.

In the computer, the device is installed in the expansion slot, taking up quite a lot of space (two slots). It is clear that while the ioDrive Octal model is considered solely as a server solution, it is unlikely that such a device will be able to appear in desktop PCs anytime soon.

According to the manufacturers, the ioDrive Octal model is perfect for 1U servers, where you can put two such drives at once. According to the information provided by the manufacturer, it follows that this model uses 8 ioMemory modules, each with a capacity of 1.28 terabytes. This, as can already be understood, is a very productive drive, its performance is about 1.3 million IOPS. At the same time, the capacity of the model is 6.7 GB / s.

The company Fusion-io believes that its drives are best suited for high-load systems, because they are really able to cope with even very high loads. The ioDrive Octal solid-state drives will be available in the first quarter of 2012. Unfortunately, the price of such a device is still unknown, but it can be assumed that it certainly will not be low. The cost of the previous model, with a capacity of 5 TB, is 67 thousand euros .
