Some time ago, I created a survey on the reliability of SSD. Despite the fact that it seems to me that there are too few results, there is not much point in waiting.
So, for a start, size statistics.

The picture shows that the most popular formats are 120, 80 and 60, which are produced only by Intel.
You may also note that 120/128 disks are especially popular among users of alternative operating systems (including OS X).
We continue the data by manufacturers.
Until I forgot, we have 1587 reviews.

Disc Returns:

Disks with problems:

We see the same picture as with the previous picture: Intel, OCZ in the first places, followed by Crucial. However, according to OCZ, the percentage of returns is almost three times higher than that of Intel and Crucial. Intel also has a smaller percentage of discs with defects.
Further, the number of disks by model:

Returns:

Disks with problems:

I can not yet make any more conclusions, except that Vertex 1 and 2 are not reliable, and Intel X25M G2 is very reliable, according to both graphs.
We continue. Results in the cut of the controller. I added this because, theoretically, reliability also includes the controller.

Returns:

Disks with problems:

Small decoding:
Samsung S3C29RBB012
Samsung-MAX = Samsung S3C29MAX. The development of the previous line (used in 470)
Toshiba-T6UG1XBG. Used in some Kingston drives (for example, 100 V)
Indilinx Barefoot is used in Vertex 1 etc.
SF-2200 = All disks on SandForce with SATA 6Gb / s
SF-1200 = All disks on SandForce with SATA 3Gb / s
Marvel = C300, M4, and Intel 510
Intel: All Intel drives with SATA 3Gb / s
It is interesting here that we do not have so many results for different controllers, but nevertheless, the following conclusions can be made.
- Indilinx Barefoot is not very reliable
- SF-1200 is not very reliable
- The SF-2200 is much better, but the number of returns is nonetheless large.
- both Marvel and intel are relatively reliable
Recommendations to the buyer.
Which SSD is better to choose? It is worth saying that there is no "better choice". Some discs are better in some cases, some in others.
According to the results we can conclude that the drives on the SF 1200 and SF 2200 should not be taken. Indilinx discs are definitely not worth taking. The disks that are worth taking to rid yourself of nightmares are disks with Intel and Marvel controllers. These are the Intel X25-M, Intel 320, Intel 510, Crucial C300 and Crucial M4. Well, more discs for which there is not much data, Kingston V 100, 470 and Samsung. I recommend, nevertheless, to think anyway, and to take information from this topic only as a reference, since the sample is not large.
Note trans. In the morning topic I told how I got a rather unpleasant situation with the Intel 320, so I cannot say how to insure myself completely against having to dig up with the recovery.Week
