Sometimes ... no, damn it ... we always want to have some kind of gadget just because it looks cool. Well, today is no exception. A concept from Jason Giddings, an engineer in space technology and Gen. Giddings Product Development, these desperately cool keyboard and mouse, are special curved pieces of tempered glass and a couple of cameras at the base. Here's how it works:
The design is based on the FTIR touch screen technology (
impaired total internal reflection technology). The glass case of the transparent keyboard in the profile is illuminated by infrared LEDs, and if you put your finger on the keyboard surface, the light will dissipate, which will fix the camera located under the working surface. Having processed the signal coming from it, the computer interprets it as pressing a button. There are no hardware limitations on the number of simultaneous touches, the cameras can easily cope with the multitouch function, even multi-touch commands are supported. The transparent glass mouse works in a similar way, which is also sensory and in fact is half a touchpad.

Now Jason is trying to collect $ 50,000 for implementation through the Kickstarter portal. I must say that things are going well: now there are already $ 24,415 in his piggy bank. At the moment there is no working prototype, but the author’s previous achievements do not allow to doubt his honesty.
By the way, you can even pre-order these wonderful things. For a mouse $ 150, for a keyboard $ 250, and for a set $ 350. Of course, not cheap, but you just look at them!
