What could be better than a robot? A lot of robots!
A kilobot is not an expensive, easy-to-use robotic system. It is designed to help develop software for distributed systems based on group interaction, such as ant colonies. Flocks of such robots can, for example, work together to search for food, move large objects, and so on.
Perhaps one day, flocks of such robots will be able to find survivors in the ruins of buildings, monitor the state of the environment and remove harmful substances, help pollinate crops, and organize themselves to form supporting structures supporting collapsing buildings. Kilobots are designed to provide a better understanding of collective behavior and software development based on similar models. ')
