Google plans to turn Chrome into a gaming platform.

Now, many game lovers are discussing news about next-generation gaming consoles, from Sony and Microsoft. It is clear that so far there is no definite information on this topic, but rumors still circulate. But an interesting nuance in all this may be news from Google. The company plans to turn the browser into a gaming platform, where the game does not need anything, except, in fact, a laptop or computer, plus a browser, plus a controller.

You can already play games like Angry Birds or Plants vs. already. Zombies in the browser, but all this - as usual, using the keyboard and mouse. And now Google offers to play games in the browser using the game controller. All this is planned to be introduced in the new year, in the first quarter. Chrome will support the game controller, plus you can use the camera and microphone. The camera will need to play games of the type that are released for the Xbox 360 under Kinect.

According to Google, the browser is quite suitable for the game, and not only in, actually, browser games or the same “Evil Birds”. Developers are going to provide support for the usual game console games. Only the game console itself is not needed for the game, it will be replaced by the browser.

Plus, the developers will provide support for the WebRTC protocol, which allows you to run video chat in a browser without plug-ins. The same technology can support gaming services like OnLive. True, Google, as far as is known, is currently not working on creating such services.

However, since there is a similar opportunity, or rather, it will appear in the first quarter of next year, perhaps within a few months and the browser-based gaming service will also appear. Everything is possible.
