Hackers made another "climategate"

As a rule, the actions of individual hackers and their groups are perceived by society in a negative context, although, nevertheless, sometimes in their actions you can actually find some element of "ethical" and social protest. As an illustration of the last thought, one can cite the actions of the well-known Anonymous group, which led to the cessation of one of the large servers that distribute child pornography.

In anticipation of the start of the UN Climate Summit, hackers published a correspondence of members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the meaning of which is this: combating global warming is carried out by aggressive investments of incredible size in energy companies, which should bring greenhouse gas emissions to an acceptable level, which is said to be the beginning of positive changes in climate. In particular, hacker (s) argue that, according to the IPCC correspondence, the world should invest $ 37 trillion in energy companies and energy-saving technologies by 2030, which will lead to global poverty, despite the fact that the harmful effects of emissions are not recognized as an absolute factor climate change.

The stolen correspondence is a collection of over 5,000 letters, and among the recipients there is also Phil Jones, an expert climatologist working at the University of East Anglia (University of East Anglia), United Kingdom — the main person of the scandal of 2009, when the correspondence published by hackers indicated that among the temperature data, on the basis of which conclusions were drawn about the causes of climate change on the planet, there are significant traces of falsification.
')
Then Professor Phil Jones left the post of head of the Center for Climate Research at the University of East Anglia, but, nevertheless, as a result of subsequent checks, it was concluded that the hypothesis of global warming and the innocence of the University’s workers were tamper-proof.

It is curious that the stolen archive was placed on the Russian server here , which, however, is no longer available - the standard 404 error. Nevertheless, information is available for download to curious, for example, an archive of about 180 MB with text files of letters, Word documents and pdf can be freely downloaded from here .

And, as usual, representatives of the university stated that there were no signs of an attack on their computer network and the published archive is a fake that does not deserve attention.
