Guideman - guide on selected male attributes
Almost three months ago, we launched a new online edition for men, similar to the western project Uncrate , in which we are trying to cover the most interesting news - gadgets, watches, cars, motorcycles, photo and video equipment, movies, games and much more. Starting with the alpha version, in which there was only a superficial functionality, we thought out further functionality, won a place in the hearts of loyal users and, finally, launched a refreshed version entitled beta.
In order to avoid an incorrect reaction, I want to add that we do not sell anything - we place links to online stores, which are either based in Russia or are engaged in international delivery.
Ideology

There are a lot of print publications in the world, including glossy ones, and web sites that are targeted at a male audience and advertise various products on their pages. Such advertising is far from always useful - not every manufacturer that has large advertising budgets creates worthwhile products. We write only about what we like visually, functionally and spiritually.
Format
We are distinguished from news sites by brevity, as well as the absence of vague wording and meaningless speech. Calling us a blog is also not a language, because all our reviews are extremely objective and unobtrusive.
Useful functionality
At the moment, we have launched the registration, commenting and likes system. By clicking on the "I like" button, the user adds a certain product to his "Favorites", which will soon be available in open profiles. Thanks to this sample, any close person can find out what you like from the freshest novelties and not guess what to present to you as a gift for the next celebration.
Little about the technical part
The project is hosted on the server of MakeIdea , located in one of the data centers of the company telefonet.ru
The site is written in Perl, the database is PostgreSQL, the frontend is Nginx, the backend is Apache + mod_perl, the template engine is Mason, the file storage is Nginx + WebDAV, the platform is our own development.
We impose on HTML5, we use our own markup, based on the Yandex “Independent Blocks” (thanks to Harisov for this ;-)). JS-framework, working in conjunction with jQuery, tried to make an object-oriented and tied to the data- attributes.
Such a layout saves us from many problems - even with the implementation of the list / grid switch, we didn’t have to change almost anything - adding an additional modifying parent class was enough. The mobile version is also very easy to organize thanks to the universality of the code.
Most functions will be transferred to AJAX to work without reloading the page and optimizing traffic.
The entire interface is drawn in the Indentium design bureau.

- Ratings of goods.
- The presence of several media objects in the product (photo / video).
- Sandbox for adding products to users.
- A heading with illustrated articles about life - "How to iron a shirt without an iron" or "A million ways to tie a tie."
