The expansion of the range of smartphones and lower prices for them led to the fact that in the first half of 2007 in Russia, according to MForum Analytics, 1.08 million smartphones and communicators worth $ 446 million were sold, which is twice as much as the period last year when 480,000 smartphones were sold for $ 239 million.
"Smart" phones are bought up by Russians much more than usual. According to the analyst MForum Analytics Dmitry Deev, a large share of sales of Russian smartphones accounted for Nokia (60%). According to him, the average cost of a smartphone has halved, from $ 889 in 2003 to $ 413 in the first half of 2007.
Although data from another research firm, J'son & Partners, is somewhat different. For example, according to them, semi-annual sales of smartphones and communicators increased over the year by 62% to 816,000 units. Interestingly, both companies used the same method when calculating - they interviewed sellers and distributors.
