Google will continue to improve the HTML5 video player , which should replace the flash player everywhere on Youtube. So far, the HTML5 version does not work under all browsers, displays only video encoded with h.264 or WebM, and there are a number of other restrictions — for example, advertisements are not supported. However, the capabilities of the player are gradually being supplemented: here is a list of what has been done recently:
480p and 1080p quality for WebM video;
Full-screen support (only works in Firefox Nightly and the latest version of Chrome for developers;
context menu with the option to copy the URL and code to paste;
adding annotations and captions.
Now the HTML5 video player is activated for those who voluntarily joined the tests , as well as occasionally for other users.
