Every year, on December 31, the respected habrayuser
anatoly_rr lays out
such a calendar . This year I needed a similar calendar a little more in advance, so I had to try myself. The process of pampering with the python script fascinated me and I got a small
calendar generator to my taste and color . I do not need so much, so I decided to share :)
Immediately, I note that I contacted Anatoly about the use of his script, and about this publication.
Now a little more
The generator can do several number systems:
- Hexadecimal
- Decimal
- Ninefold (symmetric)
- Octal
- Trinity (symmetrical)
- Binary
Additionally
- You can set the background color, year, day of the week, weekend and other things. There are several preset color options for very lazy.
- Formats output SVG, PNG, PDF.
- Generated by the year - 2011-2015.
- Language Russian and English (translation ordered freelancer).
- You can give someone a direct link to the result.
You can also generate templates for cutting and gluing the cube and dodecahedron. There are 6 calendars for the selected year in all available number systems in a cube. One for each side. And on the dodecahedron, one month of the selected year on each side. Honestly, I didn’t really like the cube ñ somehow everything was small (but compact), but the dodecahedron pleased me. Considering the fact that it is glued in two parts, it is possible to make these parts of different colors. In my opinion, it comes out beautifully.
He also made the Mayan Calendar. An article
on Ferr about this calendar generator several times reminds us that 2012 is quite significant in the context of the next end of the world. Interested in this topic. I quote
from Wikipedia : “The starting point for the reasoning about the“ end of the world ”is the long account of the Mayan calendar, according to which December 2012 is the end of the current baktun.” Those. all the fault is this calendar. Slightly
delving into the same Wikipedia, I found out that the Maya calendar was based on a two-decimal number system and this fits well with the concept of the generator. Of course, instead of the usual numbers, we use our own symbols. But we must understand that in reality, the Mayan calendar was completely different and I have our usual calendar, just in the Maya number system.
How it works
Initially calendars were generated directly by a python script. Then I redid it a bit and now it's just a few templates where the right colors change before output. With PNG and PDF, everything is a little more complicated - inkscape is engaged in generating files in this format. The server seems to cope without problems, it does not tupit.

How it doesn't work
SVG display does not work for previewing results in IE and older versions of browsers.

The choice of blog for publication (“Do it yourself”) is due precisely to the presence of these material results. Fridge magnets, pocket calendars printed on plastic using a special Eltron P310 Card Printer printer - I will not demonstrate, but I will boast with paper figures:
