Amazon has opened the Kindle Fire OS source code.

Today, Amazon has published the source code of the Kindle Fire OS - the operating system of its Kindle Fire tablet, which, according to the company, is being sold so successfully that it took to order an additional batch of devices from the manufacturer.

The Kindle Fire OS is a “forked” version of Android 2.3, the main modifications of which are integration with Amazon cloud services for storing user-generated content and the Amazon Appstore store.
