After the opening of Google Music, the competition between Apple and Google moves to a new stage. Google already has several products that compete directly with Apple: 1. Apple iOS <-> Google Android 2. Apple Safari <-> Google Chome 3. Apple TV <-> Google TV 4. Apple iTunes Store Service <-> Google Music / YouTube 5. Apple iBook Service <-> Google Books 6. Apple iPhone / iPad <-> Google-Motorola Droid / XOOM
But recently, these companies have actively cooperated (see: “We are waiting for new joint projects of Apple and Google” ). And today, Apple partly relies on the services of its competitor, Google, in its products, but with increasing competition, Apple may no longer trust a hostile corporation. And then apparently Apple remains either to reinvent its Internet services, or to buy the company Yahoo! If this happens, then the Apple vs war. Google will become obvious, and one of the testaments of Steve Jobs will begin to come true. Earlier there were rumors that Apple is creating its Internet services competing with Google, see for example: “Does Apple create its own search engine?” , “Apple’s next acquisition indicates the appearance of Apple Earth?” . It is known that Apple bought two small companies with map services: Poly9 and C3 Technologies - see a beautiful demo from C3 Technologies:
But so far, Apple has neither its own search engine nor its own map service. At the same time, Yahoo has recently started selling again and is relatively inexpensive - the capitalization of Yahoo = $ 18.6 billion (11/21/2011). And Microsoft is again trying to buy it - see: "Microsoft, Silver Lake and the Canadian CPP Foundation are interested in buying Yahoo . " And Apple had already tried to prevent Microsoft and was itself interested in buying Yahoo! - see: “Apple makes Yahoo!counteroffer? ” , “ Apple may acquire Yahoo ... ” . Therefore, the likelihood of buying Yahoo by Apple is non-zero. ')
Moreover, today Apple is incredibly rich and what is the point of accumulating a “pillow” in the amount of $ 82 billion (see: “Today Apple can buy the entire mobile industry” ) and at the same time not use the money to expand the business - in time this money will simply be consumed inflation (especially given that some economists predict the onset of hyperinflation in the United States in 2012). Even today, Apple is already managed by Tim Cook, who may dare to spend a lot of money from Apple's jug, which probably would not have happened with Steve Jobs, who absorbed only small companies ...
PS: I really want to hear your opinion - what do you think about this?
