
Previously, the Mozilla mobile division, which develops the browser for Android, used XUL markup, which is familiar to the desktop version of Firefox to create the application interface (interestingly, the Mozilla Foundation is also involved in the XUL project). Now the choice is made in favor of "native" for Android controls, which should provide a more flexible and responsive interface.
The new design is called Birch, and now the
“nightly build” of the application's APK file with a new design is available on the FTP server, which, of course, is far from ideal for the end user. Interestingly, in contrast to the version for tablets, the developers design Birch specifically for the size of the screens of smartphones.
