Google Inc. bought Apture

Today it became known that Google has bought another company, this time the acquisition of the “Corporation of Good” concerns the search sphere. Since its creation, the purchased company Apture has been working on the technology of fast (in fact, almost instantaneous) information retrieval by the user. Software from Apture, which is an extension for the browser, helped to find the necessary information to the user on any site.

Apture was established in 2008, and during its existence, this company has received approximately 4.5 million US dollars of investment. The browser extension of this company's production is called Apture Highlights. According to company representatives, this extension helped site owners keep visitors who could find everything they need right on the site without the need for search services.

It must be said that Apture technologies were quite popular, with such resources as Financial Times, NYT (New York Times) and others worked with them. As for the Financial Times, here Apture Highlights technology was implemented in a very interesting way. A user pointing the mouse cursor over the name of a company mentioned on the FT website immediately received a pop-up window in which all relevant data for that company were displayed, including the dynamics of stock prices, company rating, and so on.

Most likely Apture technology will be used in new versions of the Chrome browser. So far, representatives of Google have not officially commented on the purchase. The startup team will start working on Google, as Apture representatives have already reported.
