The company InvenSense , developing integrated motion sensors, announced the release of a two-axis gyro IDG-300 . In connection with the growing demand for game manipulators and “air” control consoles, interesting technical and price characteristics of this device will definitely be in demand by a mass producer.
New InvenSense development is good for several reasons. First, the IDG-300 gyroscope developed with the use of MEMS technology (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems - microelectronic mechanical system) is capable of recording rotational movements at a speed of 500 degrees per second, and also withstands shock overloads up to 5000 g. Secondly, the small size of the IDG-300 (6 × 6 × 1.4 mm in total) and low power consumption (power supply from 3.3 V, current consumption 9.5 mA) make it possible to use it when creating manipulators without any problems for consumer electronics and handheld devices. And finally, the cost of the IDG-300 (if we take into account large deliveries to manufacturers, from 1,000,000 units) is very small: only $ 3 apiece.
