The United States and Japan launched a high-speed trans-Pacific network

Several companies immediately announced the launch of a new extensive Trans-Pacific network with a total bandwidth of 100 Gbit / s. The total length of the lines of this network is more than 9,500 kilometers, and thanks to this indicator, the PC-1 submarine cable network can be considered the longest network with similar performance. PC-1 will now work by transmitting information across the Pacific. One of the goals of the project initiators is to connect the USA and Japan using a 100-gigabit network connection, which was done.

Developers recently completed a trial network test, which showed excellent results. As mentioned above, network performance is 100 Gbps. All this was made possible through the use of Infinera FlexCoherent technology, using separate Infinera optical modules, as well as the Infinera DTN platform. The developers also reported that, among other technologies, BPSK technology was implemented with automatic error correction.

The published statement of the companies states that the capacity of such networks will increase in the future, as the number of Internet users is constantly growing, Internet services are being improved, and the global network infrastructure must meet modern requirements. In Asia alone, over the past 11 years, the number of users has increased almost 9 times, from 114 to 922 million people. It is clear that all this really requires the use of new type network technologies.

In addition, telecommunications companies have long been trying to use network technologies that can work with "heavy" content, including video in HD-quality. Now one of the largest sources of traffic are services like YouTube from Google, with the number of videos viewed daily exceeding several billions.
