What devices will Ice Cream Sandwich get?

Android 4.0 is coming, and it promises to be beautiful. But which phones will receive an update to the latest version of the mobile platform from Google?

On the basis of the companies' statements, Engadget has compiled a list of devices for which they promise official updates. Some companies have not yet announced their intentions, so the list is tentative.

ASUS

Official statement:

Google recently introduced the latest Android update, Ice Cream Sandwich, which has some interesting new features and capabilities. At ASUS, we are proud to provide excellent opportunities to use our products, thanks to frequent updates that further expand the capabilities of our products. We are pleased to confirm the support of Ice Cream Sandwich for the ASUS Eee Pad family - our goal is to provide the latest Android update for the Eee Pad Series, but for the time being we cannot name the release date. Please stay tuned to our update plans at Ice Cream Sandwich.

HTC

Official statements:

We are pleased with the latest Android update - Ice Cream Sandwich - and are currently exploring its features and capabilities to determine our plans for an update. The goal of our Android updates is to provide each customer with a better interaction experience, which means balancing each phone with unique hardware, HTC Sense and the Android core. Although our goal is to update as many of our latest devices as possible, we primarily strive to maintain the performance of each phone and its usability. Please keep an eye on the new plans for updating specific devices.
From AT & T: we plan to upgrade Vivid [...] to Ice Cream Sandwich.

LG

Official statement:

LG strongly denies rumors that LG will not provide an update for Ice Cream Sandwich OS for LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning an Ice Cream Sandwich OS update for the LG Optimus 2X, just like other high-end LG smartphones. Details of the update schedule on Ice Cream Sandwich OS for specific models will be announced after Google publishes Ice Cream Sandwich OS publicly. Please check back for new updates from LG.

Meizu

Official statement:

The MX market remains unchanged. However, soon we will upgrade MX and M9 to 4.0 (Jack Wong, CEO).

Motorola

Official statement:

We confirmed that DROID RAZR / Motorola RAZR, DROID BIONIC and Motorola XOOM (all versions) will receive an upgrade to ICS ... we did not confirm that any devices would not receive ICS.

Samsung

Official statements:

Samsung Mobile USA did not make any official announcements about plans to update any products in the United States at Ice Cream Sandwich. We will inform our customers as soon as we have more information.
From AT & T: we plan to upgrade [...] Galaxy S II Skyrocket to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Sony Ericsson

Official statement:

Sony Ericsson is currently updating all its 2011 Xperia smartphones with Gingerbread 2.3.4. This update will be made available in stages in some markets. After Gingerbread 2.3.4, we plan to upgrade our 2011 Xperia smartphones to the next Android platform, which will be available to us.

ZTE

Official statement:

ZTE did not make an official statement about Ice Cream Sandwich or when we will introduce new products with an updated OS. Nevertheless, we continue to work closely with Google to provide the best Android experience on all of our devices and with all of our partners.
