The new SiRFstarV chip for navigation inside buildings and with a cloud platform

On 1 November, Cambridge Silicon Radio , San Francisco, presented its new development - the navigation chip for mobile devices SiRFstarV, the feature of which, in addition to the standard “improvement and quality of navigation data”, is that the chip can work with several satellite systems navigate and collect data on WiFi networks, cell towers, MEMS sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and electronic compasses, eventually forming the global cloud base of the SiRFusion Platform.

At the moment, SiRFstarV is already working with the American GPS system, but its architecture is such that it can work with the Russian Glonass, the European Galileo and the Chinese Beidou (Compass). According to the developers, the use of the SiRFusion Platform cloud platform makes it possible to achieve a significant increase in navigation accuracy not only on the streets of big cities, but inside buildings.

Moreover, the company, aware of the fact that the use of accurate navigation, coupled with the cloud platform, represents a potential threat to the anonymity of users, emphasizes the fact that their platform is built on the principle of self-learning and will not identify the owners of the devices.
