American researchers from the North Carolina University Computer Science Department, led by developer Jean-Michael Frehm, introduced a new way to spy on users of modern gadgets, without needing to approach the device or take some tricks to install a malicious program on it. spy
The essence of the method is the developed iSpy software, which allows, with 90% accuracy, to recognize characters typed by the gadget owner from screenshots of his screen (email addresses, credit card numbers, etc.) that can be made by a regular phone from a distance of about 3 meters . Moreover, if the attacker has better optics, the distance to the victim’s smartphone can be freely increased to 60 meters.
Thus, a new class of threats has emerged, to which the authors of the technology themselves have to avoid using security screens or reducing the font size of the typed text.
