Copying data from a CD / DVD to a hard disk using LEGO and Arduino

An interesting device came up with a Jack of all trades named Paul Ria, when he wanted to transfer all the data from his CD / DVD discs to the hard drive. The fact is that Paul has accumulated a huge amount of optical discs, and he wanted to finally get rid of all this mass of CD. The solution was simple - to reset all data from the disks to the hard drive of the computer.

But since there are really a lot of disks, Paul decided not to bother, and to create a device that takes the disk out of the pile, puts it into the drive tray, and then takes it out of there after the data is copied.

No sooner said than done. A Ripper based on Lego and Arduino was born, which successfully performs all the functions that Paul needs. At the same time the cost of the device is very small. Now Paul has conceived to create another similar device, with some new features and improved design. But this device does everything as it should. As you can see, the disc is taken from the stack, inserted into the drive, the data is copied, the disc is moved to the stack of “used”.

The Chinese chopsticks are used as a manipulator, but the manipulator works fine and seems to be without errors. In any case, on the presented video, everything is exactly that.
