Petman by Boston Dynamics

From futuristic android move to a more practical development.

A few days ago, Boston Dynamics, the creators of the notorious Big Dog , posted a video about another project of theirs - Petman. We already wrote about it before, but then the development was very raw and what is shown now is really impressive.

Some information about the project:

Petman is an anthropomorphic robot designed to test chemical protective clothing used by the US Army. Unlike previous testers who had a limited repertoire of movements and needed mechanical support, Petman independently maintains stability and moves freely: walking, crawling, and performing various exercises during exposure to chemical warfare agents. Petman will also mimic human physiology, controlling temperature, humidity and sweating, when necessary, to ensure real-world testing conditions.

The robot will have the shape and size of an ordinary person, which makes it the first anthropomorphic robot that moves dynamically, like a real person.
