Moscow students will be given electronic diaries

Moscow schoolchildren will soon have to find out that online diaries are not always blogs, warns Comments Vlast magazine. The introduction of the electronic diaries system will begin as early as this school year and will be implemented as applications are received from Moscow schools.

According to officials, a student card program close to implementation will include the creation of Internet pages on which data on the performance of each student will be posted. Electronic diaries will, of course, be available to both teachers and parents.

The Student Map program began to be implemented last year, but was originally designed for completely different purposes. As an experiment, in the Moscow Gymnasium No. 1531, electronic cards were introduced by which children paid for school lunches. The system appealed to the parents, because now one could be sure that the money was being spent on food, and not on cigarettes.

The officials were also satisfied, since the money passing through the school canteens could finally be checked. Soon there was an idea to turn the payment cards into identification cards so that people without a student card could not get into the school building. Finally, there was an order from the mayor of Moscow, which added to everything else that the student’s card should provide “parents access to information about student performance”.
