Asia is the leader in speed of connection to the Network and in the volume of hacker attacks

The other day the regular State of the Internet report on the second quarter of this year was published. As always, in the list of cities with the fastest Internet connection leading cities in Asia. Only Japanese cities occupy the first 59 out of 100 places. However, this region is also in the lead in one more list - in the amount of so-called “hacker” traffic generated by various kinds of malicious software.

This is reported by the cloud service provider Akamai. Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea are leading in the list of “malicious traffic generators”.

It should be noted that the Czech city of Brno is leading in terms of speed of connection to the Network in Europe. Among the American settlements number one on the connection speed is the California city of San Jose. As for South Korea, it is the leader among all regions. Actually, this is not surprising - South Korea has been holding a palm for several years.

According to the report, many regions show a significant increase in the average speed of connection to the Network. So, this figure rose in Singapore by 47% last year and by 8.5% in the first quarter of this year. Thanks to this, Singapore ranks 29th in the global leaderboard.

According to Akamai, there is a downside to such a large-scale growth. As mentioned above, the maximum “hacker” traffic comes from the Asian region. About 10% of all virus attacks come from Taiwan. In Myanmar, the corresponding figure is 9.1%. In the last quarter, Myanma ranked first.

The Asia-Pacific region and Oceania generate 47% of the hacker traffic. In Europe, the same indicator is 30%, in both Americas - 20%, in Africa - 3%.
