Facebook is looking for possible ways to reduce the number of compromised accounts.

Back on Thursday, Facebook announced in its blog that every day several hundred thousand thousands of system accounts are compromised in some way or another. In principle, this is not so much in relation to the total number of accounts in the system, but still, the figure is quite significant. Developers offer new security features that should reduce the number of compromised accounts.

The well-known resource Sophos recently published more detailed information about how many accounts are compromised daily, citing additional facts. It turned out that indeed, every day 600 thousand accounts become the property of hackers, which is about 1 account in 140 milliseconds. Those. you blinked once, and already two of your accounts have been hacked.

According to Facebook, the number of compromised logins in the system is 0.06% of the total (about a billion logins per day). In order to strengthen the security of the system, Facebook introduces new measures, one of which is Trusted friends. The user can choose 3-5 friends in the system who can help you get access to the system in case of a hacked account. For example, someone changed the password from the login to the account of some user. Plus, for some reason, this user cannot access his own email.

In this case, Facebook sends the security codes to the previously selected "trusted friends", and they help the user to log in by giving the security code to the owner of the hacked account, which opens access to his own account. The "trusted" themselves will not be able to log into your account, since all they have is a code that is useless by itself.

Another new feature is the App Passwords app, which generates a specific password for each application on Facebook. Thus, it is not necessary to specify the data from your social network account to gain access to the functionality of the application. “Flies are separate, cutlets are separate”, this is the new principle of the social network user with applications.
