Upgrading Android Versions: Sad Statistics

Yesterday, Google dispelled all hopes of Nexus One owners to upgrade their system to Android 4.0. And I must say that the owners of the first Nexus are still lucky - after all, most android owners would be happy even with such a “life expectancy”.

Michel DeGusta, the owner of the blog, Theunderstatement.com keeps funny statistics: he scrupulously records the release date of the next Android smartphone (this is a major release in the US and does not include most Chinese), its price, and so on. "Period of relevance." And you know, it turns out very interesting:

- 7 out of 18 smartphones have never had a current (i.e. latest) version of Android;
- 12 out of 18 had the current version of Android just a few weeks or less;
- 10 out of 18 lagged behind the two versions of the system by the time when the deadline for their two-year contract with the mobile operator was approaching;
- 11 out of 18 phones stopped receiving updates less than a year after the release;
- 13 out of 18 ceased to receive support even at the moment when they were still sold, or immediately after;
- 15 out of 18 did not receive an update to version 2.3 (Gingerbread), although it was released in December of 2010;
- within a few weeks after the release of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwic), all devices reviewed on the chart will receive minus one OS version;
- At least 16 of the 18 machines reviewed will never receive Ice Cream Sandwich officially.

Well, how can you not remember "give 2.1 on Hero!".

Ps By the way, for the sake of interest, you can detect my karma. Now it is 80 with 196 votes. Predict a sharp decrease :)

UPD : karmic experiment is very revealing. For a couple of hours of the topic's existence, karma slightly increased (thanks), but 9 people managed to minus it. And this is despite the fact that the post itself was minus two. So to speak, to the question of fanaticism.
