The next mobile Opera report offers to get acquainted with some statistical data on preferences in the communities of users of devices on various popular platforms. Some figures are controversial, some are explained by quite trivial reasons, but the report presents actual data based on statistics from the Opera Mini servers (for those who are concerned about privacy - a note at the end of the article).



So, what do we have as of September 2011? Users of Android phones are more likely than iPhone and iPad owners to visit music sites, and owners of conventional cellular phones (feature phones) are most active on social networks.



What else distinguishes Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and non-smartphone users?

- Owners of devices based on the Windows Phone OS often use news and information resources, as well as web-based communication services, such as email;



- Android users more than others visit educational sites, for example, online resources of universities;



- Owners of BlackBerry devices are more interested in technology and sports news;



- Users of phones based on Android are least likely to communicate in social networks using a mobile browser. The owners of devices from Apple, such activity is almost 1.5 times higher;

Preference statistics are based on Opera Mini server data collected under the conditions of anonymity of users . To study preferences, the Opera-owned AdMarvel Open Audience Network service was also used, which analyzes the traffic of various websites and allows advertisers and content owners to flexibly customize ad displays based on the preferences of mobile Internet users.
