Nokia has demonstrated a flexible phone on Nokia World 2011

While Sony is buying back a stake in the joint venture Sony Ericsson , another manufacturer of mobile devices, Nokia, is demonstrating its own developments at the Nokia World 2011 conference in London. This time, a prototype of a flexible mobile tablet / phone was shown, part of the functions of which is tied precisely to this property, flexibility. Moreover, this is no longer a rendered concept, but a real working device.

I do not know how all this will work with the text, but the images react to the actions of the comrades who mock the phone, rather adequately. There is a decrease or increase in photos, flipping and performing some other tasks. According to the developers, the flexibility of the device, and the functions related to flexibility, will help to work with the device without the need for visual contact. So, you can reject the call in one motion, if the phone is in your pocket, and you - have fun in the crowded metro at rush hour in public transport. Or you can change the melody, plus change the volume of the melody.

How does all this work? According to the creators of the device, Nokia is now experimenting with carbon nanotubes, whose electrical properties change as a result of the deformation. These tubes are embedded in a flexible material that allows you to control the display of the device by deformation, i.e. bending, the device itself. And yes, thanks to all these new technologies, a flexible mobile phone has another advantage: firstly, it is resistant to shocks and deformations (by itself), secondly, it is not afraid of moisture.

Perhaps the device will soon appear on store shelves, as was announced by the leadership of the Finnish manufacturer.
