Sony Ericsson is now wholly owned by Sony Corporation.

Not so long ago, there was news on Habré that Sony plans to take control of the Sony Ericsson joint venture. The news said that at the moment negotiations are being conducted at the most basic level, and most likely, all this will not end with anything, and will remain at the level of negotiations. But in fact, everything happened a little differently. Today it became known that the manufacturer of mobile devices Sony Ericsson really came under the control of a Japanese corporation.

The contract between the Japanese and the Swedish company provides not only the purchase of 50% of the assets from the Swedes, but also the transfer of a certain part of the patents to Sony. Former partners have also agreed to share patents on technologies created in the process of long-term cooperation of both companies. The contract cost the corporation to 1.05 billion euros (about 1.45 billion dollars). Probably, negotiations on the buyout of the partner’s share have been conducted for a long time, and what was previously leaked to the media is already information about the final stage of the agreement.

The leaders of both companies have already made official statements, saying that the results of the transaction have satisfied everyone, and for potential buyers and clients all this is only a plus. Now, Sony is going to strengthen the four main areas of production of various kinds of devices, including televisions, laptops, tablet PCs and mobile phones.

All of these platforms will now support the PlayStation Network and the Sony Entertainment Network. Well, through these networks will be implemented all sorts of multimedia content, including films produced by Sony Pictures. In general, Sony has achieved what it has long wanted - to take control of the most popular platforms, through which you can distribute your own content, and create a single network tied to a single leadership.

It is worth recalling that the united company Sony Ericsson itself appeared in 2001, both companies thus tried to make their mobile units profitable. At first everything was fine, then things got worse, well, and now everything seems to be getting better again.
