There are many articles on self-made BackLight backlighting, but all of these devices are either computer dependent or always on. I set a goal for myself to make BackLight for a TV, which could be turned off and on from the remote (without getting out of bed), while not violating the integrity of the TV itself.
My first idea was to have a separate remote control for a TV outlet, and for this purpose I even ordered something from our Chinese friends.

However, the appearance of another remote control is not necessary. And while the package was getting, I began to think further, and remembered that in TV I have a usb which I do not use but which should give 5v. Making sure that the power to usb disappears when the TV goes to STANDBY, I was glad that I finally found an elegant solution.
So it took me: the relay works from 5v, at home I found this:

For the light, I wanted to take duralight, but in the store I changed my mind and took the LED strip:

And to her power supply:

Next on the twists, electrical tape and Scotch tape, I assembled the control module from usb (please, for the faint of heart, move away from the screens):

It remains to mount all this on the TV:
')

Connect the USB connector:

And ready, backlight with on / off from the TV remote control:

Night mode:

You can turn it off completely by simply pulling out the usb:

There remains a question that I would like to ask a guru-soldering iron, I do not use usb, at all, but still, is there a chance to burn the port in this way? =)
