Online office suite Google Docs has several new features. One of the most notable and probably useful new products is the ability to work with presentations in Google Docs. In addition, the package received about 50 more different kinds of updates. According to the developers, all this will help Google Docs to better compete with Microsoft Office Web Apps.
As for presentations, you can now work with them on the principle similar to that used (and used) in Google Wave. That is, updates made by different users are displayed in real time, including the addition of new characters. Representatives of the Google Docs team believe that the novelty will help to work with presentations more effectively, creating them through the joint efforts of several people. One of the developers claims that presentations are best obtained if several people work on them. It may well be that it is.
Each of the members of the team working on the presentation will be able to take on a certain part of the work and notify their colleagues about this. There is also a job log that allows you to track changes and roll them back if necessary. It is clear that collaboration also implies the presence of embedded chat.

The new features work on the basis of HTML 5, so that users working with older browsers that do not support HTML 5 will not be able to use all the functionality of Google Docs. In particular, such users will be able to view presentations, but they will not be able to edit them. This category of users includes those who, for example, work with Safari 4 or Internet Explorer 8 browsers. They will have to install Google Chrome Frame to gain full access to new features.
Among other things, the Google team has promised to update its social network in the coming weeks. Despite the significant decline in attendance, this social sphere can still be considered popular. Well, whether it’s possible to call the Google+ project itself successful will become clear already in 2012.
