93% of IT professionals seek help from online communities.

Apparently, crowdsourcing and social networks have become an integral part of the IT industry. A study in the United States ( PDF ) showed that all without exception IT professionals who are members of online communities benefit from this.

The vast majority of IT professionals (93%) say that the help of online communities allows them to more effectively fulfill their responsibilities. Crowdsourcing saves at least three hours a week for every third respondent and at least an hour a week for almost everyone else. 98% of survey participants said that online communities provide them with accurate and reliable information.

About 70% of system administrators, managers, and programmers participate in online communities on duty - they are in discussion groups for specific professional issues.
