Native SDK for BlackBerry Tablet OS released

Today at the BlackBerry DevCon Americas 2011 conference , it was announced that the Native SDK for the BlackBerry PlayBook ("NDK"), which has moved from beta to official release, became publicly available. NDK allows developers to get all the benefits when developing applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. NDK includes C / C ++ POSIX libraries, device control gestures, such as swipe and touch (finger), access to the QNX Momentics Tool Suite, an Eclipse-based integrated development environment, and debugging and analysis tools. Developers are provided with tools for profiling memory, debugging applications and obtaining statistics on memory usage, which helps debug complex programs.

NDK 1.0 is compact and efficient. An interface (API) to OpenGL ES 2.0 and device sensors is provided. For sound, OpenAL is used. For performance, POSIX threads. Compatibility is also compatible with the POSIX API.

Additionally, the simulator development team presents OpenGL ES 2.0, an environment for testing 3D applications, which allows using 3D acceleration in a simulator during development. Over time, the simulator will become more sophisticated and provide developers with better tools.
