Great Ukrainian Firewall or hello censorship on the Internet?

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine gathered to isolate users from content immoral from their point of view. This action should take place, according to the husband’s plan, by forcing providers to block unwanted resources at their own production facilities.

Today, the deputies voted in the amount of 276 with 226 required, passed the first reading of the bill with the number 7132.

Such encroachments by the “National Morality Commission” had already been made earlier in 2009 in the form of the notorious “Law 404” (bill number 3271), which, surprisingly, did not receive support at the time. Given the "national characteristics" of lawmaking, surprise will not be caused by the adoption of amendments from the previous draft law.

Considerable concern and the sea of guesses in the provider environment is caused by the proposed technical measures of “reliable blocking” of unwanted content.

Thoughts about what kind of content the average Ukrainian user of the network can consume at all, in case the authorities get a tool to block “unwanted” content on a national scale, they look even more sad.

We are looking forward to “banning” VPN tunnels at the state level or, say, Opera Turbo.

It is also a matter of great concern that even a cursory reading of the text of the bill â„–7132 can be transparently hinting that providers should follow all the movements of the user:

“Unwillingly press informatsiyu, for additional help, you can insert:

type of information service, a person who works as a service provider, who knows how to do it, can be rewritten for help if you like about the service; The installation of the telecomunication, the time of the intercommunication, the functioning of the information resources and the access to them via the telecomunication systems. ”

which loosely translates as:

“Immediately provide information with which you can install:

the type of information service, the identity of the user of the service and other information that can be obtained through an agreement or service agreement; place of installation of telecommunications equipment, time and place of creation, operation of information resources and data on access to them by users of telecommunication systems. ”
