- Yesterday I was reviewing “Doctor House” on my window!
It seems that in the near future we are waiting for something revolutionary: the research division of Samsung announced the creation of an advanced LED technology that turns large glass surfaces (such as window glass) into transparent LCD displays.
In the new development, scientists of the “court” Institute of Advanced Technologies Samsung managed to create single-crystal gallium nitride on amorphous glass substrates. Without going into the deep jungle of technical details, we can say that this solution will allow us to abandon the sapphire substrates used in LCD screens today, and as a result - to create transparent displays of extra wide format at low production costs.
The use of new display technology opens up new horizons for creating unique types of devices, such as: interactive building facades, transparent presentation boards, multimedia mirrors and windows. Taking into account how fast the technologies are developing today, it will take a couple of years and for the phrase “And I revised“ Doctor House ”yesterday at my window!” You will not be taken to the nearest psychiatric hospital. ')
So far, the existing prototypes have not been presented to the public, but SAIT has demonstrated its vision of this technology back in 2009 in a virtual tour of the city of the future .
The Samsung Advanced Technology Institute (SAIT) was founded in October 1987.The institute supports Samsung’s technological competitiveness in its core business areas, determines the mechanisms for future growth, controls security and technology management.
