Record of the seminar from SumIT summer startup marathon

It was a wonderful summer day (August 18, 2011), when Alexander Orlov (independent consultant in the field of project management, Vice-President of the Guild of Software Project Managers) came to the site of the summer Start-up Marathon SumIT (St. Petersburg, Kronverksky pr. 49, NRU ITMO) to to conduct a seminar on the theme “How are start-up teams”. The workshop gathered more than a hundred people and lasted until the evening. What is the skill of managing difficult and intelligent people? Why does the team work for some managers like a clock and people solve the most complicated tasks and get real pleasure from it?
The manager and the team can be on one side of the barricade, and then there are practically no organizational and technical problems for this tandem. The success of the project depends on how the manager and engineers can work together in one mechanism and become one team.
We will analyze what mechanisms operate during the life cycle of a team and how we can influence it.
