IBM announced a new initiative "Big Green Linux".

As part of its initiative, IBM plans to agitate businesses to switch to Linux. As an argument, research will be used that showed that when using Linux-based systems, the total energy consumption is reduced, which has a positive effect on the environment and on economic indicators. As an example to follow, IBM plans to replace almost 3,900 of its servers with a bundle of 30 System z on Linux, as a result of which it hopes to get an 80% reduction in power consumption.
