Very soon, on October 27, the
International Day without paper , which the
AIIM Association is holding all over the world, and in Russia the
DOCFLOW project, will be
held . We really like this initiative, because it allows people to think about how to make work with documents more convenient, faster and safer, and at the same time to save a hectare of other forests - they can be useful for other purposes.
Just think about these numbers. In 2009, Sberbank saved $ 100 million by automating the process of sorting documents. Earlier, the bank employees had to manually sort the statements for all transactions performed in ascending order of their 20-digit numbers! Meanwhile, organizations continue to print, copy and fax over 1 trillion documents a year. In the paper world, one document has, on average, 19 working copies.
Many people understand that working with electronic documents is faster and more convenient than with paper ones, that such documents do not burn in the fire and it is more difficult to fill them with tea, that they are easier to protect from prying eyes and that it is easier to find them in electronic archives than to work with paper archives . Yes, many understand, but to decide at least partially to abandon the paper workflow is not so easy. Knowing this, the DOCFLOW project on the eve of the International Day without paper holds a special competition to help those who are not sufficiently decisive and support those already on their way to a paperless world.

Both companies and individuals can participate in the competition. Prizes - certificates for completing the
AIIM ECM Practitioner corporate content management course AIIM, streaming scanner, corporate and professional versions of
ABBYY FineReader 11 . The main prize in the "individual competition" - Apple iPad 2.
Competition participants are invited to make a choice of a number of “paperless” exploits: for example, hand over waste paper, make a video about paperless technologies, share tips with friends and colleagues on blogs or social networks to reduce paper waste (with their own or some of the
DOCFLOW selection ) and we can put them into practice ourselves, make a report with photos and / or videos about how they spent their International Day without paper, support
International Day without paper on Facebook and much more. For each “feat” the participant of the competition receives points in the form of “saved trees”.

Wins the one who "save" the most trees. Detailed terms of participation -
on the site DOCFLOW .
Finally, a few tips from DOCFLOW on how to avoid a paper flood:
- Do not print documents unless absolutely necessary.
- Look carefully at your desktop. Do you need all the drafts, documents or papers on it in print? If possible, scan documents and work with them in electronic form.
- If you still need to print something, check the document before sending it to print.
- Use unified data warehouses and shared virtual workspaces to work on documents that require the approval of several persons.
- Use web interfaces and automatic electronic forms to enter data instead of paper forms, forms and forms, where possible.
- Send marketing materials to customers and partners electronically.
- Develop tools for paperless communication with partners through electronic applications and services. Make a gradual contribution to educating colleagues and partners on ECM technology.
Have a nice Day without paper!
