Nissan developed electric vehicle charging technology in 10 minutes

Electric cars are all good, with the exception of a couple of drawbacks: the need to develop the infrastructure of the “electro-gas station”, plus a long time of charging itself. If the car is charging in the garage, then everything is fine, but if it is discharged somewhere in the middle of the road, then in Europe you can not find a specialized charging station, not to mention the CIS countries, where there are practically no electric vehicles. Perhaps Nissan will be able to solve the problem of the need to charge an electric car for a couple (or even all eight) hours.

The new technology, developed jointly by Nissan and Kansai Univercity, allows you to charge electric vehicle batteries in just 10 minutes. According to the developers, this possibility arises as a result of the replacement of conventional carbon electrodes in batteries of electric vehicles with electrodes made of vanadium oxide and tungsten oxide. This allows you to significantly increase the current density, without the threat of damage to the battery. All other battery characteristics remain the same.

It is clear that if technological innovation is introduced, and becomes widespread, electric vehicles will become much more popular. Unfortunately, this technology needs further improvement and commercialization. According to experts, it may take several years before this technology becomes widespread. In addition to Nissan, other companies are engaged in similar developments, but so far no particularly bright news has been heard. True, JFE Engineering announced the achievement of the result in 3 minutes (full charge of the battery), but the release of this technology "in people" is not heard.

However, companies are producing less expensive car chargers. The cost of some new models of charging stations is about 10 thousand dollars, which is significantly less than the cost of older models of charging. But still, the price is quite high, and it is clear that all this affects the final cost of the electric car itself.
