Washington County Schools Use Fingerprint Scanners

Most foreign schools use ID cards for their students, while we keep silent about domestic schools. These cards serve as a means of identifying the student’s personality, plus they help to keep records of the total number of students in an educational institution (both by grade and in general). But more recently, schools in Washington County, Florida, USA, have begun to use fingerprint scanners. So now it’s impossible to use a friend’s card, and it’s also impossible to say “is” when checking missing ones instead of a truant.

Fingerprint scanners were introduced from the very beginning of the school year. And now the management of educational institutions in this district also plans to install such scanners in school buses. The new program for the technologization of student registration is highly appreciated by local experts who expect a lot from such a system. Probably, the majority of students are just not very pleased with such tricks of officials.

By the way, not so long ago in the "Mythbusters" guys checked a pair of fingerprint systems. One of them is a fingerprint scanner on some kind of laptop, and the second is some kind of extra-high lock for the same extra-high door. Interestingly, the scanner on the laptop was fooled only after creating the bulk fingerprint of another person using a gel. Fought over this scanner a couple of days. But the castle was very easily deceived - it opened even when a black and white fingerprint scan was applied (of course, drawn) on plain paper.

I wonder how reliable this system works now in Washington County schools? If the scanners installed there are as reliable as the Mythbusters lock, then I fear officials will not be able to improve school attendance. Pupils will quickly find the “holes” that they will use.
